TECO GROUP manufactures bus coupler (BC) panels that enable redundant dual-source power supply configurations within main distribution board (MDB) systems. A bus coupler connects two independent busbar sections — each fed by a separate power source such as two utility transformers, a transformer and a generator, or two independent feeders — allowing load transfer between sources for maintenance, fault isolation, or supply redundancy. Bus couplers are essential in hospitals, factories, wastewater treatment plants, and any facility where continuous power availability is critical and a single point of failure cannot be tolerated.

Our bus coupler capabilities include:

  • Motorised bus tie breakers with automatic changeover — enabling seamless load transfer between busbar sections on source failure, coordinated with upstream ATS logic.
  • Manual bus coupler breakers with mechanical interlock — for planned maintenance isolation and manual source selection.
  • ACB and MCCB bus coupler configurations — rated to match the MDB busbar capacity up to 6300A.
  • Electrical and mechanical interlocking between incomer breakers and bus coupler to prevent parallel operation of independent sources where required.
  • Split-bus MDB architectures with essential and non-essential load segregation — critical loads remain powered via bus coupler transfer while non-essential loads are shed during supply interruption.
  • Integration within type tested MDB assemblies to IEC 61439 with forms of separation up to Form 4b.
  • Full factory testing including interlock verification, changeover simulation, and primary injection testing of bus coupler breaker trip units.

TECO GROUP has supplied bus coupler configurations for prestigious projects including:

  • King Hussein Cancer Center (KHCC) — dual-source MDB with bus coupler for hospital critical power redundancy.
  • Al-Taj Pharma Plant — MDB with bus couplers, APFC, and Form 2/Form 4 construction for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
  • Wadi Arab WWTP — bus coupler within MDB for dual-transformer redundancy at the MV substation with 2× 2000 KVA transformers.
  • DoubleTree by Hilton Aqaba — bus coupler MDB for hotel dual-source power supply.
  • Sheraton Hotel Amman — MDB with bus coupler as part of full LV switchgear supply.
  • PLASCO — bus coupler within industrial MDB for factory dual-supply configuration.
